The Average Kenyan Online is a Troll: Change is Inevitable

The Average Kenyan Online is a Troll _Change is Inevitable
I often get worried of the increasing number of idle Kenyans who are hanging out online to just troll, gossip and worse spread hate speech. I wonder when all the dust is settled and your political candidate wins will they reward you in any way for spending thousands of hours rumor mongering online.
I have been studying social media behavior of Kenyans in bid to understand how social media can be used for business in Kenya but am lost for words as I conclude today that the average Kenyan is a troll online!

Talking of trolls…meet them in your Inbox!

Since I wrote this post about Kenyans using internet for the wrong things, I have continually received opinionated bad taste emails from some trolls I mentioned in that post. If the average Kenyan is not idle online, then I should not be receiving such emails.
I try to think about the Kenyans who write comments such bad ethnic hatred fueled comments. I can’t help but think Kenyans are either very idle online or simply will not evolve beyond ethnic division even with better technology.

       Who are these Trolls

It helps to understand this troll and define who this troll. In most cases people who don’t pay for their internet or cannot figure out what to do with internet access they are more likely to go down this path. It is my thought that most of these bad comments come from people working in offices with free internet access but minimal supervision. May be it’s due to nature of work or the y have to work online all the time.

      Curbing the Vice

To curb this vice the only way out is not operating your office machines with software screen monitors, it’s about the change of our social mindset. By teaching these people to blog, create online businesses they can slowly begin to view the internet as a resource rather than an idle pass time meeting place.

If you have not seen the 50+ Business Ideas you can implement online, you need to have a look at them and get started as soon as possible to build your future. Lets promote good use of social media in Kenya…we should shun spreading ethnic hatred, political hatred and religious extremism via social media.
