NJENGAH: Young Kenyans are Continually Using the Internet for the Wrong Things!

I personally like to imagine a world without Internet my life would just grind into a thunderous halt. Call me an internet addict and I won’t say a word to you…I think internet can really become an addiction. What I worry about is where my internet addiction leads me to!

On average I spend at least 10- 15 hours online every day. I can regard myself a heavy internet user but I can’t help to see many Kenyans who use the internet for the wrong reasons.

If you think this is an overstatement, you should read this article published in the Daily Nation about the role Twitter in Kenya is courting the next war.

Being online all the time, I get to visit most Kenyan sites, interact with other Kenyans but am lost for words when I come across innumerable hate filled comments, tribal centric comments and comments that portray the writer to be of very low intelligence or possibly devoid of any!

Where Kenyan Trolls Live

1) Kenya Daily Post

One of the most common places to find such comments is this site that is popular for political gossip. We all know the site for infamously publishing so much political gibberish. It’s been a while since I visited the site and can’t tell why Kenyans who hide begin anonymous handles on that site continually use subversive language.

2) Facebook Kenyan Trolls

If you have not seen the trolls in Kenya who live in Facebook you must be dead asleep.

3) Twitter Kenyan Trolls

At times KOT the hash tag for Kenyans on Twitter is another place to encounter serious trolls. I keep wondering what the point is of wasting so much energy on the wrong things online.

My Plea:

If you are a troll who has read this post up to this point, you need to rethink on the best way to use your time online. Look around this blog and learn a few tips you can use to make money online, you will be putting your time to better use.
