How to Make Money Online in Kenya as Writer:

One of the easiest ways that you can start making money online in Kenya is writing. There are different kinds of writing assignments that you can accomplish for clients and get paid. It is however important, you have interest in writing or wiliness to learn how to write good content for clients. I advocate people who are neither web designers nor programmers to try writing as one of the ways they can get started making money online. In this post I am going to highlight the different kind of ways you can make money with your writing skills right from your home.

Ways to Make Money Writing Online as a Writer

1) Academic Writing: Academic writing is one of the most common ways that Kenyans are making money online. It is a form of writing that involves doing research and writing term papers, academic reports, academic assignments and projects on behalf of the person who is doing the exam. To some extent I regard academic writing as a grey area and I don’t have so much experience in this kind of work. It is a great way to earn a living online for those who can cope with strict deadlines, numerous revisions and strict writing terms. I understand the learning curve is tough but the rewards are great. I have not tried it so I may not be the best person to teach you how to do it to make money.

2) SEO Article Writing or Blogs : This is my area of expertise for many years, basically this task involves writing an article around a certain keyword or keywords, example if the main keyword is ‘Kenya Social Media’ you should repeat this keyword a number of times in the article to make search engines rate this article for that keyword. You can either use one or several keywords. You should however be careful not to overdo it since it may cause a penalty from search engines due to keyword stuffing. Basically SEO articles are easy to write and require you to avoid grammar mistakes and write a given article around the keyword you are issue by the client. These articles can either be published by the client on their website or published in article directories for promoting their website products and services. I will discuss more about this kind of work in future posts.

3) Web Copy Writing: This is a form of persuasive writing that is required to fill the pages of a newly designed website. Suppose you have just completed to design a website and the client wants the ABOUT page written. You are required to write such a page telling the audience about the website, the products or the services that the website is offering. This form of writing is mostly undertaken by the website owner but can also be outsourced to writers online with specialty of web copy writing. 

4) News Article Writing: Writing news is similar with articles but also requires you to change the tone of writing. You are supposed to write as though you are reporting. You may also be required to write about a certain news topic for specific keywords. This is a combination of both SEO writing and news writing to help promote the content search engine rankings. This is alternatively regarded as journalism; the client may require you to have some journalism skills or background.

7) Copywriting: This is writing persuasive content that promotes a product or persuades people to take action like sign up in a form or buy a product online. Copy writing is regarded as one of the highly paid writing tasks online. You are paid to market products through your writing skills. Copy writing can either be for a sales page or writing for a blog that intends to make people buy a certain product online.
