After
writing several posts on how to make money online in Kenya, I would like to
take a few minutes today and evaluate 5 reasons why Kenyans are not making money online. I will evaluate each of these problems and suggest a possible solution for each. I
hope this gives you an idea on how to solve the teething problems associated
with starting an online business in Kenya.
1) Kenyans don’t understand Internet home based businesses: the world
has embraced the potential of internet home based businesses; Kenya is still
lagging behind possibly due to low internet accessibility. We can expect to see
more Kenyans making money online when Internet becomes accessible to all
Kenyans.

2) Limited Tech Skills: To make
money online, one needs to beyond being tech savvy, there are a variety of

majority of Kenyans who would wish to start a business online.

There is always room for improving your
tech skills, you can begin to slowly lean how to make money online and acquire
the skills you require to start making money online.
3) Kenyans in Disbelief: A Good
Number of Kenyans don’t believe it is possible to make money online not even
earn a living. This trend is slowly changing with more Kenya business opportunities
coming up.
Solution: I advocate for a change in the
perspective of Internet business and you will slowly begin to see you can make
money online.
4) Internet Accessibility: Internet accessibility
is a major challenge to Kenya business opportunities online. In fact, the lack
of good internet accessibility in Kenya is the major fact that is driving ecommerce
in Kenya backwards.
Solution: there are many Internet offers
that are coming up by different ISP in Kenya, in particular, you can make use
of the mobile data offers to start learning how to make money online.
5) Cost of Setting a Home Business: The cost
of starting a home internet business may be relatively high to Kenyans who are
starting out. At least one needs a high speed internet connection, a good computer,
internet marketing software and some spare cash for emergency if you are doing
it full time and have no other job.
Solution: You can start this internet based
business as a part time business and slowly grow this business to a full time
business. There are several online marketers who did this when they were
starting out their home based internet business. Kenya is no exception; you can
start an internet based business that outgrows your garage, bedroom or house to
become a real physical business.
