10 Steps to Help You Start Making Money on Freelancing Websites

After writing the post on where to start making money, I received a question on how to get started making money with freelancing websites. I have decided to break down this into 10 steps that are easy to understand for anyone who has not worked on freelancing websites before. Here are the 10 important steps that will guide you to making money online with freelancing sites. 

To start making money with freelancing websites, you should follow the following steps:

Create Account - Create a profile in any of the freelancing websites- You can create an account or profile in each of the freelancing websites. It is only prohibited to create several accounts on one website. 

Edit your Account to make it 100% Complete - It is important you fill all the details in your account since clients will not hire someone with a half filled profile or account. You should fill the basic details like; full names, education, previous work history, skills and other details as they may be required by the website. 

Take the tests on that website: To earn the confidence of your employers or clients, it important you take come basic skills tests like English, HTML, CSS and any other test that may add value to your profile depending on the skill you want to sell on the platform. 

Start searching for clients: This is the process called bidding, it is a simple process of requesting the clients who have posted a job on the website to hire you or engage you in an interview. It is very simple as you will soon find out when you get your first client. 

Interviewing Phase: A client may conduct several interviews, before they settle on the best candidate and this may be competitive but with a good proposal and negotiation skills, it’s a walk through the park. 

Working: If you have successfully been awarded the contract, you should work very hard on your first job for you to earn a positive 5 star feedback. It’s important you don’t compromise on the quality of your work since the client may rate you poorly. A poor or negative feedback means you will not be getting another opportunity easily in future. I tell people coach that the first job is what will make or break you! Very important, if you are not sure about your first job and how to accomplish it successfully having a mentor or a coach is inevitable. 

Feedback: This is an important step to the progress of your career as a freelancer. It is the most important part that should concern you. You would rather not take a job that will give you a bad feedback. Weigh your options before you take on any job. This will determine how the future clients or employers will take you. Be very careful when you are bidding a job, simply don’t bite more than you can chew! 

Bidding for More Jobs: When you have finally accomplished your first assignment earn the money you were dreaming about (FYI: My first pay check online was $30, it was the most magical feeling ever in my life, it felt better than on graduating after 6 years of toiling in UON), you should now rinse and repeat this procedure by bidding more jobs, accomplishing more jobs and making more money from the comfort of your home, it’s that EASY! 

Improve your Skills by taking more tests: You should take more tests to improve your skills and attract more clients. As you work and earn a positive feedback, you should consider improving your profile by taking more tests relevant to the skills you are selling on the platform. 

Share the Love: One of the success principles I unconsciously discovered is the power of helping someone else know something that can change their lives, it always comes back to you in hundreds and thousands fold. Take to teach someone else how to make money online if you have successfully made some money no matter how small!
