How to Start a Blog in Kenya on BlogSpot

Yesterday I received an email with this question. I decided to make it a blog post for everyone who wants to know how they can start their own blog. Here is a quick tutorial on how to start your own blog.

Before I show you how to start your own blog it’s important to mention there are two types of blogs.The free blogs and hosted blogs, the difference is as it sounds one you have to pay for hosting while the other you get it for free from the numerous blogging services providers. 

BlogSpot is one of the many services you can use to start a blog today. The other question ‘Can you make money with the free blogs? ‘Absolutely yes…I am doing it with 5 free blogs I don’t pay for the hosting and they are doing great. 

5 Steps of Starting a Blog in Kenya

A blog is a space that you use to communicate to the work about a certain topic. If you are going to create a successful blog you should follow these 5 steps:

    # 1) Identify the Audience 

The audience includes the regular visitors who read your blog, follow you, like your page and become your fans. You have to put them first; a blog can never be successful unless the audience is satisfied by the content they read on your blog.

  # 2) Develop a Content Strategy

This is simply the kind of content you will be writing, how you will be writing, how frequent you will be writing the content and how frequent you will be publishing the content. It helps to know some of the keyword you will target on your blog content.  If you don’t know how to do keyword research, you need to know for you to develop content that ranks well on search engines.

# 3) Develop the Blog

Developing a blog just involves using a free hosted option or a hosted option. You can simply use BlogSpot to create a blog easily:

1.    Go to Google search for BlogSpot or Simply go to blogger.com
   
2.       Log in to your Gmail account, if you don’t have one you simply sign up on that page
   
3.       Look for new blog and create one
   
4.    Choose a name...something like kamauwanjoroge  Check for availability  of the name
   
5.    Choose the title of your blog 
   
6.  Customize your blog colors, width and sidebar
   
7.    Now see how your blog looks

# 4) Write the content of your Blog and publish content on the blog

This is the most important part of creating a blog. You need to now get down to business of writing content for your blog on regular basis. You can set time for this work every day. It takes a lot of effort for your blog to start getting noticed let alone make money.

#5) Tell your friends and other people about your blog for it to increase in readership. 

Use your Facebook, Twitter and email to tell friends about your blog.
